New poetry competition

A POETRY competition will be held in Henley as part of Great Big Green Week.

Entrants are asked to write a poem about what lifts their heart in nature or what they would miss if it disappeared as a result of climate change.

There will be £25 book tokens for the winners in three age categories, under-12s, 12 to 18 and over-18s.

Poems can be in any format but not more than 19 lines. Entries should be sent to: Sue Turner and David Williams, Candela, 19 Reading Road, Henley RG9 1AB or by email to

Entries should include your name, age and contact details. The closing date is May 31.

The poems will be displayed at the green fair during Great Big Green Week, and Henley library in Ravenscroft Road.

There will be a poetry reading at the library on Tuesday, June 13 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm when entrants can read their work.
