MORE than £7.4million has been awarded to Oxfordshire County Council for road repairs.
The highways authority has been given a share of a £420 million fund that was announced by the Government in last month’s Budget.
The money can be used to repair potholes and to keep bridges and structures open and safe.
Henley’s county councillor Stefan Gawrysiak said he would try to secure some of the funding to repair roads in Henley.
He said: “We still have significant numbers of potholes to fix as well as road repairs to do.” He has already identified streets in need of repair, including the cul-de-sac off Deanfield Road, Nicholas Road, Leaver Road. Mount View, Bell Street, Church Street and parts of Greys Hill, New Street and Marlow Road.
Cllr Gawrysiak said: “I have heard that Northfield End is going to be repaired in the New Year and I have other road schemes for Fair Mile, Bell Street and elsewhere.
“I believe the council will be doing proper repairs of potholes so that’s square patching rather than sweep filling.
“Henley will be ahead of the game because we have given the county a plan where the problem areas are.”
