RESIDENTS of Benson are being asked for their views on the introduction of a 20mph speed limit in parts of the village.
The parish council asked Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, to lower the current 30mph limits to improve road safety.
The 30mph speed limits would be kept on the non-residential sections of Beggarsbush Hill, Brook Street, Oxford Road, The Sands and the road to Preston Crowmarsh. Speed limits on Henley Road would also remain unaffected.
A 50mph speed limit would replace the 60mph limit on 195m of the road to Rokemarsh from its junction with the B4009 at The Sands.
The new limits would be signposted rather than being enforced by police.
This is part of a wider scheme by the county council to replace 30mph speed limits in many Oxfordshire communities.
