Pavilion cost worry

A PUBLIC meeting will be held to discuss the future of the diamond jubilee pavilion in Kidmore End.

The pavilion at Gallowstree Common recreation ground is owned by Kidmore End Parish Council and is primarily used by Kidmore End Cricket Club.

The council is concerned about the financial sustainability of the pavilion and wants to maximise use of it.

Chairwoman Caroline Aldridge said: “Our issue is that the pavilion costs a lot to run.

“The price of utilities has gone up and we need to explore every option to ensure the pavilion can be used by people in the future.

“The cricket club has been using the ground since before the Second World War. The old pavilion was built around 1956 and this one around 2011.”

Councillor Andrew Harland said that he wanted to discuss concerns he had about public access to the site.

The meeting will be held at the pavilion next Saturday (September 16) at 6pm.
