THE chairwoman of Benson Parish Council hopes to return after being absent for almost six months due to illness.

Pat Peers could technically be disqualified from office for missing meetings during that length of time.

However, her colleagues have formally approved her absence on the grounds of ill health.

Vice-chairman Jon Fowler told a council meeting: “It’s coming up for six months since Pat last attended a parish council meeting.

“I think we are aware of the reasons for non-attendance, — basically it’s due to ill health — but she does hope to come back and keep us updated as to how her treatment is going in November and go from there.

“I don’t want her to get disqualified for not attending a meeting. I certainly want her to come back.”
