SINCE the exhibition called Borama Comes to Henley at the Old Fire Station Gallery in June, there have been a few developments.
The main one is that the first six priority cases of veterans with cataract problems have been successfully operated on in the specialist eye hospital in Hargeisa.
In consequence, I am asking the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League to send out money for the next six cases, plus an element for administration.
Ahmed Magare, who was prominent in setting up the exhibition and gave demonstrations of his painting technique and provided many exhibits, has written the poem (below) about the event. Somalis have a fine tradition of oral poetry.
The reference to milk is symbolic, implying wellbeing, prosperity and happiness.
