Councillor and trader calls mini-Christmas trees ‘silly’

HENLEY’S Christmas trees scheme has been criticised by a town councillor.

Joan Bland called the mini trees “silly” and said the town should follow the example of Marlow when it came to Christmas decorations.

Each year, shops and other businesses can hire a miniature tree and lights which are put up on their premises in November.

The scheme is run by the town council and the trees are supplied by Windowflowers, the firm that also supplies the town’s hanging baskets in the summer.

Councillor Bland, who owns Asquiths teddy bear shop on the corner of Bell Street and New Street, called the scheme a “mess”.
