A DRUMMER has been reinstated into a rock band after he was sacked following complaints about his playing from its frontman.
Zak Starkey, 59, the longtime drummer of The Who, who lives in Crazies Hill, was playing a series of headline shows at the Royal Albert Hall last month when the disagreement occurred.
Roger Daltrey, the band’s lead singer, complained about Starkey’s performance and a statement was later released saying the band would be parting ways with him.
Starkey, who is the son of The Beatles drummer, Ringo Starr, was playing the shows with the band in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
But a statement was issued by guitarist Pete Townshend on the band’s Instagram page on Saturday where he took responsibility for “some of the confusion” and stated the disagreement was due to “communication issues”.
He said: “There have been some communication issues, personal and private, on all sides that needed to be dealt with, and these have been aired happily.”
He added the band had asked Starkey to “tighten up” his drumming style and he agreed.
