Berkshire will be bidding for another national title today (Friday) when their Over-50s 2nd XI face Essex at Trowbridge CC in the ECB 50+ 2nd XI County Championship.
The side, captained by Henley’s Sean Taylor, finished third in their group, which also comprised Surrey, Hampshire and Kent, leaving them 15th in the rankings.
They defeated previously unbeaten Warwickshire by six wickets in the last 16 and then Cornwall by 148 runs in the quarter-finals, with Anup Urath scoring 121 from 94 deliveries in his side’s 270-7 from 45 overs.
In the semi-final played at Henley, Berkshire posted 205-9, with Pankaj Garg making 54 and bowled out Nottinghamshire for 140, Pete Henly taking 4-14.
