A fine rearguard from GORING helped the hosts inflict a 13-run triumph against PEPPARD STOKE ROW 2NDS in the Premier Division.
Under-17 Ben Rumble (4-22) produced some sensational deliveries as he reduced Goring to 3-2 and then 45-4, and with spinner Matt Syddall and slow bowler Andy Watts keeping a lock on the middle overs, the home side were in deep trouble at 74-7.
However, Under-13 George Logan received fine support from Toby Markham, the number nine adding a useful cameo before falling to another floated Watts (3-14) delivery as the eighth-wicket pair added 43.
And with Logan ending on an unbeaten 37, a super lower-order knock from Ben Sexton (27no from 18 balls) helped Goring end their 40 overs on 168-8.
PSR started their chase quickly before Sexton made the initial breakthrough, the visitors then suffering a collapse from 47-1 to 74-5 to leave the game in the balance.
Rich Ashton and Rob Simmons attempted to rebuild the innings, but as the rate continued to rise, Ayush Nangalia removed the latter for 119-6.
Logan’s fellow youth Jack Walsh (2-23) took two wickets in two balls to put his side well on top with PSR 126-8, and despite Ashton (40) and Archie Watson putting on 29 for the ninth wickets, a run out and a second for Nangalia (2-22) ended proceedings with the visitors 155 all out.
HENLEY 2NDS beat FALKLAND by 34 runs using the Duckworth Lewis (D/L) method in their Division 1 clash on Saturday. Falkland won the toss and put Henley in to bat first where they made 180-6, with fine performances from Euan Brock (41) Ajmal Safi (56) and Sahil Desai (36). Falkland were 183-10 in reply.
HARPSDEN beat SONNING by six wickets (D/L method) when they clashed in Division 2B.
Sonning won the toss and elected to bat first, mustering 124-10 with top scorer Sahota contributing 35. In reply Harpsden piled on 122-4.
PEPPARD STOKE ROW’S outside chances of snatching a third-placed promotion from Division 3a were extinguished in brutal fashion as they were hammered by nine wickets at home to WINDSOR.
The visitors routed their opponents for just 93 and, following a heavy downpour, cruised to a revised Duckworth/Lewis/Stern target of 57 in just 10.3 overs.
Elsewhere in Division 3 , KIDMORE END suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of ROYAL ASCOT while FLEET beat WARGRAVE 2NDS by six wickets.
In Division 5B, WARGRAVE 3RDS were beaten by eight wickets by EVERSLEY 2NDS, while HENLEY 3RDS suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of YATELEY.
KIDMORE END 2NDS beat PURLEY by an impressive 81-run margin in their Division 6 clash.
And in Division 9A KIDMORE END 3RDS continued the winning streak with a 10-wicket defeat over BRADFIELD 2NDS.
Unfortunately, the run of victories dried up for the club in Division 10 A where KIDMORE END 4THS were defeated by 32 runs in their match with PURLEY.
