Kidmore finish season on winning note

KIDMORE END finished second in the Sunday Blast League after winning their final match of the season against visitors READING LIONS last Sunday.

Kidmore captain Batty won the toss and elected to bat. Juan Collison hit 21 before Hardik Pradan had him caught. Batty (41) and Jake Leach (62) were able to build on Collison’s fast start.

George Malaperiman launched some lax bowling on to the pavilion, playing expansive shots to be Kidmore’s top scorer. At 178-2, Kidmore End looked like they might make 300 and with Batty shifting to be more aggressive Aruna had him caught at cover triggering a middle order collapse as Kidmore fell to 236 all out.

Branch and Sheldon opened the bowling. Sheldon took the first wicket caught at deep square leg by Collison taking the easy catch to send Shivam Kesharwani packing.

Branch then picked up an ankle knock in the outfield, forcing Batty to replace him with Collison. This did not prove a problem as Collison bowled with consistency. The first change also proved effective as Sumay Minnaar piled the pressure on the Lions batsmen, as they struggled to find ways in which to rotate strike.

Batty then turned to James Frost. When Aruna was at the non-striker’s end, Frost was dismembering his team and when he was at the striker’s end, Frost was getting him out lbw for 2-31.

Kidmore End finished the match as winners by 54 runs.
