THE UK’s premier touring ballet company returns to the Wycombe Swan tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).
Birmingham Royal Ballet, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will perform a mixed programme highlighting arguably some of the greatest works in their repertoire.
The show features work from contemporary choreographers through to some of the greats of traditional ballet, all performed to live music from members of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
It includes Quatrain, a fast–paced, dynamic ballet set to the fiery tango rhythms of Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, excerpts from some ballet classics, and Facade — a charming ballet based on Edith Sitwell’s nonsense poetry, encompassing foxtrots, tangoes and waltzes, choreographed by Frederick Ashton.
The evening shows start at 7.30pm on both dates, with a matinee at 2.30pm and a free pre–show talk at 6.30pm on the Saturday, when there is also a behind–closed–doors look at the company class at 11.45am.
• For tickets, which are £18.50 to £25.50 (concessions available), call 01494 512000 or visit the theatre website at www.wycombeswan.co.uk
