Kidmore End Primary School: a children’s author visited during its World Book Week. Kate Poels, from Reading, shared stories and ran workshops with all the classes from foundation year to year 6. Mrs Poels, a former teacher who took up writing after having children, said: “One of the best parts of my job is when I’m asked to go into schools and talk to children about stories. The children were wonderful to work with and came up with some extraordinary and brilliant story nuggets. I am sure that there were some future authors in the school hall and that I will be picking one of their books off the library shelf before too long.” On Friday, pupils had the option to dress up as their favourite book character or bring in their favourite book. At the end of the day, the parents’ association ran a book
and bake sale to raise money for the school. Pictured are year 3 pupils
