RUPERT HOUSE School is known for its high academic standards, with many children achieving an excellent standard in 11+ and senior school entrance examinations.
However, alongside its excellent academic reputation Rupert House School has a thriving PE department and pupils from Year 3 upwards participate in many inter-school sports fixtures. There are also opportunities for sporting fixtures for Year 2 pupils. Some of the sporting activities that pupils enjoy include fencing, martial arts, football, netball, hockey, rounders, cricket, cross country running, dance, tennis and swimming.
Music and drama are given prominence and there are numerous opportunities for pupils to perform. Pupils from Year 2 follow the English Speaking Board and are entered for external exams. The drama department stages regular productions and the after school drama club prepares older pupils for their LAMDA exams.
Peripatetic teachers offer tuition in piano, cello, violin, viola, harp, saxophone and flute. Musical clubs on offer include music makers, recorders, lower school choir, upper school choir, chamber choir and orchestra. Recently, the Rupert House Harp Ensemble performed at the Henley Festival with the famous Claire Jones, who has played for Prince Charles.
In addition, a wide range of extracurricular activities is on offer to ensure a truly holistic education. These are designed to stimulate the imagination, offering new and exciting experiences and challenges.
Vibrant art work enhances and supports learning throughout the school and there are many creative clubs including sketching, art club, puppet making and gardening as well as Mindlab, Mandarin and Latin.
