SIR William Borlase’s Grammar School is a selective, co-educational school with academy status for around 1,000 students aged 11 to 18, of which approximately 380 are in the sixth form. Borlase was founded in 1624 and is still on its original site, close to the centre of Marlow.

The school has specialist status in the performing arts and in 2008 it added science and mathematics as a second specialism.

They have an excellent academic record and outstanding facilities, including a dance studio, theatre, recording studio, renovated science labs, drama studio, sixth form centre, and new design and technology facilities including a new food technology area.

The sixth form is a large part of this grammar school. The school admits up to 190 students into the sixth form each year, with roughly one third of these pupils joining from other schools.

They offer more than 20 subjects for A level study and students also have access to other options as part of the South Bucks Consortium. Details of their admissions requirements are available on their website — visit www.swbgs.com

They are very pleased to receive applications from both boys and girls, either from schools within Buckinghamshire or from elsewhere provided they can meet the entry criteria.

Visit them at their sixth form open evening and find out more about their fantastic sixth form centre.
