HEMDEAN House, a vibrant, family-first independent school, offers an excellent education, with affordable fees, within a friendly and supportive working environment.
We have class sizes of approximately 16 boys and girls in the junior school and 12 girls in the senior school.
Hemdean House places great emphasis on pastoral care. Through our close relationship with our pupils we identify, nurture and celebrate each child’s gifts and talents.
We develop an active partnership with parents, recognising that only with a full understanding of their child’s personality and enthusiasm will we be able to make their learning a true adventure, beyond the ordinary.
Our dedicated staff know and encourage every individual member of the school community and our boys and girls understand that they have an important contribution to make, to each other and to the family ethos of Hemdean House.
Many pupils achieve level 5 or 6 in English and maths at the end of year 6 and gain places in their first choice of senior schools, including successful admissions to Kendrick and Reading Schools.
Our GCSE results continue to be excellent. This year 86 per cent of all GCSE entries were grades A* to C and 71 per cent of students achieved more than five GCSEs grades A* to C, including English and maths. All students achieved the required grades to study at their first choice sixth forms.
Our girls leave Hemdean House as confident, respectful, self-motivated and truly delightful young ladies — ready for the next stage of their education and to make their mark on an increasingly competitive and demanding world.
Hemdean House School is in Hemdean Road, Caversham RG7 4SD.
