Workshop to help businesses reduce carbon footprint

A WORKSHOP to help businesses learn how to reduce their carbon footprint will be held in Henley during Great Big Green Week.

The national event which will run from Saturday, June 7 to Sunday, June 15 will be marked in the town by a series of events organised by environmental campaign group Greener Henley and its partners, which include the town and county council.

The programme kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) with the “Big Green Festival” in Market Place and throughout the week, there will be expert talks, litter picks, poetry readings, film screenings and hands-on workshops.

On Thursday, June 12, a Greening Your Business workshop for local business owners will be held at the River & Rowing Museum café from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The event will be the fourth annual business workshop Greener Henley has run.

It will feature speakers including Rachael O’Sullivan, who is environmental manager at the Royal Opera House, and Katrina Judge, Henley Town Council’s biodiversity officer.

Organiser Judy Walker said: “Businesses are really important in terms of reducing our impact on the environment. They have a vital role to play because the effects they can bring about have much more impact. But we recognise how challenging it can be when you have profit to make and a business to run.

“The event is to inspire, educate and connect businesses so they can identify what steps they can take to reduce their impact on the environment.” To sign up go to: www.tickettailor.com/events/green
