A SUMMER fair was held to raise money for Crazies Hill Primary School and clebrate the end of the academic year.
All the pupils and their families and carers were invited to the field opposite the school.
Two bouncy castles and games stalls were dotted around the edge, including a sumo wrestling area complete with bodysuits and mats.
There was “poo in the loo” stall, where players had to throw brown objects into a toilet in order to win treats. Joseph Webb manned a stall where players could shoot nerf gun bullets at targets.
He said: “We had done a party with nerf guns before so we were able to bring all this stuff along.”
In the middle of the field, families had picnics and chatted to one another.
Pop songs were played over speakers and food and coffee was on sale with ice cream being particularly popular.
Georgia Webb, who chairs the school’s parent teacher association, ran a stall with a lucky dip and code cracking game. Players had to guess the code on a padlock for the chance to win £50.
She said: “We held the fair as we are trying to get a new playground for Crazies Hill primary. The current one is in desperate need of repair.
“The playground is going to cost £30,000 and the PTA is trying to raise £15,000 of that. The rest will come from the school budget.
“The PTA has organised all of today but there are parents helping out on the stalls as well. It is also the end of the year, so we want to make it as much fun as possible for the kids because they have worked so hard, especially the children in year 6.”
Abi White, who ran the “poo in the loo” stall, said: “It has been very popular. I have raised quite a bit considering it’s only 50p a go.”
Ben and Laura Ashwell-Fryer were there with their children Dylan, five, and Arthur, three.
Mrs Ashwell-Fryer said: “Dylan started in reception last year. It has been a really good day.”
