Weird, wacky and wonderful party

Weird, wacky and wonderful party

A CHRISTMAS party was held at the Fawley Hill Estate on Sunday, writes Alex Carter.

Children and adults, who were dressed in Christmas jumpers and sparkles, showcased their talents to friends and family at the home of Lady McAlpine.

Dancers, poets, and musicians took to the stage, bringing festivity with carols and songs.

Molly Swinglehurst, nine, Ivy Evetts, 11, and Iona Fogle, 12, performed a dance to Holly Jolly Christmas.

Iona also showcased a poem called A Christmas Disaster about her Labradors, Storm and Swift, ruining Christmas.

She said: “I love evenings like this, it’s so exciting. I am feeling super-Christmassy now.”

Otto Evetts, 13, read A Fawley Sonnet. When asked what he wanted for Christmas, he said: “Money to save for a rainy day.”

Chalrie Foster, nine, played Blackbird by the Beatles on the guitar and his five-year-old brother Gordy played Jingle Bells on the violin.

Coralie Eccles, nine, played Sneaky Business on the piano. She said: “I was a little scared but would definitely do it again.”

Guests enjoyed refreshments and nibbles such as mini cottage pies and a beer poured from a polar bear statue.

Lady McAlpine said the event was “weird, wacky and wonderful”, adding: “I love it.”
