Festive bake competition

A BAKERY in Stoke Row is launching a gingerbread house competition to raise money for the village primary school.

Bakers of all ages and abilities are invited to take part. Entry is £20 which secures a gingerbread house kit, recipe, instructions and a template in the amateur categories.

Entries in the “pro” category select a local landmark to recreate in gingerbread, such as the Cherry Tree Inn or Maharajah’s Well.

Prizes will reward technical skills, creative flair and Christmas spirit, with one entry crowned the overall champion.

Deadline for entries is today (Friday) at 2pm and finished pieces should be dropped off at the village hall next Friday, from 5pm to 7pm.
