Craft fair raises church funds

Craft fair raises church funds

A CHRISTMAS craft fair at Woodcote village hall raised more than £1,800 towards the upkeep of the village church.

There were a dozen stalls at Sunday’s event selling Christmas gifts, home-made cakes, jams and preserves, craft items, bric-a-brac, bath and beauty products, toys and jewellery.

It also included a tombola, raffle and a children’s lucky dip with toys for the winners.

Co-organiser Sue Udell said: “It went very well indeed.

“We were delighted with the turnout and glad to see so many people attending despite the cold weather. The village really turned out in force and there was a lovely atmosphere for the whole afternoon.”

Rev Linda Smith, the vicar of St Leonard’s Church said: “All in all, it was a terrific day.

“The total raised was amazing. It was a marvellous effort and I was glad to see the entire village supporting the church.”

The proceeds will go towards community services offered by the church, including its regular “messy church” arts and crafts session for children, which takes place at the village hall.
