RESIDENTS in Ewelme are calling for a new pavement to the village store.
They are concerned about the “lack of safety” for pedestrians walking from Martyn’s Way to the village store in Parsons Lane.
David Solomon, who chairs the parish council, told a meeting that he had received a report that said the issue had been raised and recorded about 40 times.
He said he had also raised the issue with Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, himself.
A resident of Martyn’s Way handed out maps before giving a presentation. She said that the goal would be to have a pavement from her road to the store.
But she explained that the county council were the likely owners of the area of land that would be used.
She added that the mowing and tidying of hedges and verges would help pedestrians temporarily and asked the council to write to homeowners who have overhanging vegetation.
Cllr Solomon suggested setting up a working group and to arrange a site meeting with the residents.
Meanwhile, a meeting will be set up with the county council in September to discuss the issue.
