Fosh wraps up scoring as Town extend unbeaten league run

HENLEY TOWN continued their fine Premier Division form last Saturday as they defeated bottom team HOLYPORT RESERVES 3-0 at The Triangle Ground.

Although struggling at the foot of the table the visitors had a new manager in place and a large influx of young players that competed well and gave a good account of themselves.

Town started quickly and went close in the first 15 minutes with young striker Tommy Fosh hitting the crossbar with a curling right-foot shot after cutting in from the left wing.

Harry Taylor saw a left-foot strike from 25 yards come off the post with another opportunity before Matt Forster opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he was first to react from five yards out with his shot deflecting off a Holyport defender.

Holyport played some neat and tidy football without troubling the Town defence with the score staying at 1-0 going into the break.

The second half began with the home side well on top and after chances from Forster and captain Luke Mulvaney, substitute Markland Tidswell added a second on
65 minutes when he tapped home at the near post to double the lead.

Henley were largely untroubled for the rest of the game and scored a third on 75 minutes when Fosh drove his shot neatly into the corner from just inside the penalty area for his fourth goal in as many games and extending Town’s unbeaten league run to five games.

Elsewhere in the division, GORING UNITED picked up a point from a goalless draw at BURGHFIELD. HENLEY TOWN DEVELOPMENT picked up all three points from their Reserve Division 1 clash at BURGHFIELD RESERVES. Sergio Lombardo netted the decisive goal for the visitors on the half-hour mark.

HENLEY EXILES are still searching for their first Division 2 points of the season after going down to a 3-2 defeat against fellow strugglers WOODLEY UNITED DEVELOPMENT.

Exiles started the better of the two sides and were dominant throughout the first half. Just before half-time the visitors took the lead when Conner Gough whipped a cross into the box and Musa Saidybah got there ahead of the rest to score.

The second half became more topsy-turvy with Woodley equalising from the penalty spot. Soon after the hosts took the lead.

Chasing the game and trying to get level the Exiles conceded another goal on the break to make it 3-1. Henley continued to battle hard and fight for every ball and found a way back into the game when a loose ball situation created by Sergio Mota fell kindly to Saidybah to score a brace.
