Praise for school

GORING Primary School has again been rated “good” following an ungraded Ofsted inspection.

It was visited by inspectors from the watchdog on December 3 and 4 to assess if the school’s 2019 rating had been maintained.

Inspector Liz Bowes found that the school could meet the criteria for “outstanding” in all areas. A graded inspection will follow in due course to formally recognise this.

She was impressed by the school's ethos and values, noting the responsibilities pupils are encouraged to take on through pupil year groups.

Ms Bowes said that the curriculum was “rich, ambitious and well-designed” and found the school's leadership “highly effective”.

She said: “The inspection suggests that the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection”.

Henry Fay, the chair of governors, said: “This is a remarkable assessment, especially given the funding challenges the school has had to face in recent years.”
