School plants two trees for 100th birthday

AN independent school in Henley has planted two trees in its outdoor classroom.

Rupert House in Bell Street planted an oak and beech tree with money from its parent association as part of the school’s centenary celebrations.

Headteacher Nick Armitage said: “The natural environment is so important to our children’s learning about the world around them. We want other groups in the community to come and use this fantastic facility.”

Town councillor Gill Dodds, who is a member of Henley in Bloom, said: “It is a lovely idea of the parents to plant two fine trees to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rupert House. They have been planted in its forest school, which is a wonderful area open for community use, where children can play outdoors, have fun and learn about nature.

“This is very much in the spirit of Henley in Bloom and the work we do in the town and we warmly welcome this initiative.”
