A large antique carpet, which was put up for auction by Henley Town Council, did not sell.

The Pedestal, an auction house in Stonor, aimed to auction off the Ushak carpet, that was originally in the Mayor’s Parlour in the town hall.

The carpet, which had been held in storage at the town hall, had a guide price of between £10,000 and £15,000 and went up for auction last month.

The starting bid was £9,000, but it didn’t meet its reserve.
