A guess the weight of the giant onion game was among the attractions at the Christmas fair at Badgemore Primary School in Henley.
Teacher Estella Plasencia was the winner with the closest guess for the 1.35kg vegetable. The fair, which was organised by the school’s Friends group, and raised more than £1,000. Other attrations inckude the sale of knitted crafts made by the children, bauble decorating, a cake competition, Shetland ponies, goats and sheep, Father Christmas and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses including Brakspear and River & Rowing Museum.
Friends co-chairwoman Catherine Mattingly said: “It was a very successful venture for the school this year. It was probably one of our most successful Christmas fairs. We don’t do it because we have to, we do it because we like to make our kids happy. We’re really one big family at Badgemore. The school is a way of life.”
She said the money would go towards improving outdoor areas at the school on Hop Gardens.
