Relaxed Henley Ladies coast to victory over Southampton

Relaxed Henley Ladies coast to victory over Southampton

An enjoyable and relaxed performance from the Henley side saw them take the fair share of possession in the first half of their match against Southampton, with excellent link up play from the forwards — Louisa Lynch, Lucy Jean, Hayley Munt, Georgie Metcalfe and Kiera Halloran. Calmness on the ball and decision-making much improved versus the previous week were both evident.

Ten minutes in and Henley got the first goal with a quickly taken ball on the left side, sent quickly into the D where Alyx Clarke poached the ball home from close range.

Half time came and the expectation was more of the same for the second half.

And that they did… defensively faultless with Kat Green and Rachel Herbert passing the ball beautifully out the back into the midfields and transfers in abundance. It was also lovely to welcome Chloe Nelson back who also was most effective in the screen and defensively.

The second goal came mid-way through the second half, where a quick passage of play from Charlotte Hetherington sent Hayley Munt on her way to slot the ball through the keepers legs. Henley then coasted to victory and maintained their lead and clean sheet to see the game out 2-0.

The player of the match accolade was awarded to Hayley Munt for her excellent work upfront.

Henley ladies 1sts have a week off before their final fixture away at Oxford on Saturday, April 6
