HENLEY sides impressed at the inaugural Hockey 5s tournament hosted at Marlow Hockey Club last weekend, with two teams winning their events undefeated and another losing out in the final.
On Saturday the men’s team stormed through the opposition to go undefeated, under the leadership of captain Tim Herbert, and secure the winner’s trophy.
Jamie Taylor won the coveted goal of the tournament award.
On the Sunday morning the girls’ U15s took the tournament by storm, also going undefeated on the day and scoring 31 goals in the process. Coming top of their pool, Henley went on to win the semi-final and then defeat the Surrey County team 6-5 in the final.
There were outstanding performance across the whole team with captain Caitlin Barrass leading the way with 11 goals scored and an impressive performance from goalkeeper, Sophia Price.
Sunday afternoon was the turn of the boys’ U15 team. The round robin format saw Henley placed second in the table, winning all bar one of their matches. Henley lost in the final game of the day to an undefeated tournament winning Woking side.
The Henley team, which featured three U13 and U14 players scored 27 goals during the tournament.
