Henley bag seven-a-side title

HENLEY Hockey Club ladies fielded a masters (over-35s) squad that ran out winners in a seven-a-side tournament hosted at Reading Hockey Club.

The nine-woman squad played in a half pitch masters format competition that saw the side play five round robin pool games against Marlow, Reading, Wallingford, South Berks and Wycombe.

In a tense final against Marlow, Henley ran out 2-1 winners with skipper Rachel Herbert awarded the trophy.

During the tournament Henley worked together well, utilising all the players’ strength. Overall the team netted 13 goals in the six games but the accolade of top goal scorer went to returning striker, Serena Hickman-Holden who netted five times.

Henley are looking to enter the England Hockey Masters Cup in the new season.
