Pupils deliver 130 Easter eggs to Nomad food bank

CHILDREN from Rupert House School in Henley delivered more than 100 chocolate Easter eggs to the town’s food bank.

It is the second year running that pupils at the independent school in Bell Street have made the donation to Nomad, which runs the food bank.

The initiative began after one pupil asked headteacher Nick Armitage whether every child receives an egg at Easter.

The school council decided that pupils would like to spend their pocket money on buying treats for children less fortunate than themselves.

The Friends of Rupert House, which is made up of parents, organised the collection of the chocolate treats.

Mr Armitage said: “It’s heart-warming to see young people taking an active role in helping those in need and making a positive difference. This donation is a wonderful example of the positive impact that schools and pupils can have on their communities.”

This year, the children donated 130 eggs, 22 more than a year ago. Members of the council carried the eggs to Nomad at the d:two centre in Market Place and presented them to support worker Jaco Bruwer. The eggs will be distributed among families and individuals who use the food bank.

Mr Armitage added: “It is a great example of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others.

“I am very grateful to all the Rupert House families that donated Easter eggs and I’m extremely proud of those children who bought them with their own money.”
