Sir, — You published an article quoting Henley MP Freddie van Mierlo congratulating himself on pursuit of the Watlington relief road (Standard, April 25).
The cost is £19m, although planning permission and government funds are yet to be obtained. What is his view on the other local relief road he championed in Benson?
Getting on for a mile of super highway, complete with cycle track, footpaths and traffic light control for pedestrians. In fact, everything except traffic. Ending abruptly with a solid wood barrier — and no prospect of ever being finished. Incompetence and mismanagement on an epic seven-figure scale. Millions wasted. — Yours faithfully,
