King Charles III Coronation - Lewknor

King Charles III Coronation - Lewknor

ABOUT 50 people enjoyed lunch and cakes in Lewknor high street on Sunday.

The gathering was organised by village hall trustee Jean Senior and parish councillor Caroline Hjorth.

People brought their own food and there was a barbecue with sausages and burgers from Calman’s in Watlington and a table with homemade trifle and sponge cake.

Councillor Hjorth said: “We sat in the sunshine and nattered. There were quite a few new couples so it was lovely to get to know them. It was really just an opportunity to get together like we did for the jubilee, which was a lot grander.

“A lovely lady called Singi arranged and brought fresh flowers. She couldn’t stay as her mum was ill so I never got the chance to thank her. Peter Waterson, the vicar, turned up, which was nice.

“Sarah McCoy brought a Tottenham cake, a light vanilla sponge topped with pink icing and desiccated coconut.”

“Jean put a lot of effort in and she does so much for the village.”
