Medieval games and art

10:30AM, Monday 19 August 2024

GREYS Court has lots of children’s activities running until Tuesday, September 3.

Summer of Play features games with a medieval theme, including target practice, taking aim at shield targets by throwing bean bags; balancing on the beams as if crossing a moat; and having fun in a woodland play area surrounded by towers and treetops. Just follow the map and the bunting.

Open every day from 10am to 5pm, Summer of Play is a free event, normal admission charges apply.

Then over four Wednesdays in September, Paul Robbens will be running art classes for adults within the walled gardens (booking essential).

An established artist, Paul will help people develop their artistic skills through sketching and painting in the grounds of Greys Court, looking at its gardens and architecture. He will pick out details such as the unique brickwork of a building and will use various exercises to encourage participants to experiment.

He will share his techniques for working with pencil and watercolour paints and will talk about his long and varied career as an art teacher and props creator.

The morning and afternoon sessions take place on Wednesdays, September 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 4pm. Each session costs £30 (or morning and afternoon £55) and all materials and light refreshments are provided. For more information, email, claire.holland2@
