Tribute band gives credence to Sixties sounds

COVERS band Clearwater Creedence Revival are Crooked Billet regulars and they return to the venue in Stoke Row on Monday and Tuesday.

Headed by Peter Barton (vocalist and guitarist), with Geoff Hammond (drums and vocals), Graham Pollock (guitar and vocals) and Alan Sagar (bass), they pay tribute to Sixties band Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Peter spent more than two decades as the voice of the Animals, Geoff was in the Denny Laine Band, Graham played in the Hollies with Eric Haydock and Alan was in cult country rock band Slack Alice.

They will be playing old Creedence favourites such as Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Green River and Have You Ever Seen the Rain.

The original Creedence were formed in California by brothers John and Tom Fogerty with Stu Cook and Doug Clifford.

They played at Woodstock in 1969 and had a string of hits before breaking up in 1972.

Tickets cost £35 and take the form of a music cover charge. Call (01491) 681048 or visit www.thecrookedbillet.co.uk
