THE first Northend Concert of the New Year features a programme for string trio that is dedicated to the musical spirit of Vienna.
Musicians Eloisa-Fleur Thom (violin), Luba Tunnicliffe (viola) and Clare O’Connell (cello) will play music influenced by Mozart and Schubert, via Russian-German composer Alfred Schnittke and British composer Nick Martin.
The pieces comprise Martin’s Eldhav, Schubert’s String Trio in B flat D581, Schnittke’s Adagio, Kodaly’s Intermezzo, and further pieces by Schubert, Three Songs (arranged for string trio), Erste Verlust Op.5 D226, Auf Dem Wasser zu Singen Op.72 D774, and Wandrers Nachlied Op.96 no.3 D768.
