Choir’s spring concert for charity

Choir’s spring concert for charity

THE Aliquando Chamber Choir presented their spring concert, Music Spread thy Voice Around, at the Christ Church Centre in Henley on May 17.

Under the direction of musical director Anne Evans and accompanied by Ian Westley, the choir provided a range of music, pairing pieces with different styles, themes and genres.

The programme featured songs from renowned composers and performers, including Handel, Arthur Sullivan, Eric Whitacre, Neil Diamond and Carly Simon.

There were great solos from Dawn Murton, Ian Westley, Dan Evans and Gill Aitchison.

Of particular note were the engaging youngsters who provided the three cats, Jeckle and Jessop and one-eyed Gill mentioned in Five Eyes, Walter de la Mare’s poem set to music by Cecil Armstrong Gibbs.

The Lonely Little Petuni was specially arranged for Aliquando by Anne Evans and narrated by Jo Farr.

A retiring collection was held on aid of the Riverside Counselling Service.

Aliquando has now begun rehearsals for its November 8 concert in St Mary's Church in aid of the Helen & Douglas House Hospice in Oxford.
