READING Phoenix Choir has several events lined up in March.
On Saturday, March 1, the singers will celebrate Bob Chilcott’s 70th birthday with Everyone Sang, a concert at the Great Hall, University of Reading, at 7.30pm.
The Oxfordshire composer, who was conductor of the chorus at the Royal College of Music for seven years, has written music for children’s choirs. His pieces include Can You Hear Me? and A Little Jazz Mass.

Then on Saturday, March 29, at St Mary’s Church in Castle Street, Reading, at 1pm, the choir is holding a “come and sing” event, where the music will be Handel’s Messiah Part II.
The piece covers the Passion, the story of Jesus’s arrest, trial and subsequent suffering, in nine movements.
