HENLEY HAWKS MIXED went down to a heavy 50-17 defeat last weekend in their EMMNA League clash at Worcester side KRAKEN.
Travelling with just a bare seven players, the Hawks lined up with Tom Fox and Hannah Cornish working hard in the shooting circle, supported through the midcourt by the tireless efforts of Annah Spear and Sammy Johnston-Coff.
Charlie Jordan put in a strong start, linking up with Emma Robinson and Aston Morris, who formed a resilient defensive unit.
The Hawks began the game brightly, moving the ball with pace and fighting for every opportunity. However, early in the second quarter, Charlie Jordan was forced off with injury, causing a major reshuffle.
Already carrying an injury himself, Andy Phillips stepped onto court to take up a position in the shooting circle, allowing Tom Fox to drop into centre.
Despite these challenges, the Hawks dug deep and continued to play with heart. Fox led from the centre with endless energy, while Annah Spear and Hannah Cornish worked relentlessly to create attacking chances.
Emma Robinson put in a gritty performance at the back, and alongside her while player-of-the-match Aston Morris was a constant thorn in Kraken’s attack, producing a string of interceptions.
