Two schools in academy plan

PARENTS of children at the Piggott School in Wargrave are being asked their views on the secondary forming a multi-academy trust with a school in Maidenhead.

Staff are also being consulted about the proposal to form the Agape multi-academy trust with Altwood School.

The trust would be a charitable company, limited by guarantee.

In a joint letter to parents and carers, Piggott headteacher Derren Gray and Altwood head Neil Dimbleby say the benefit for the schools would be support for each other with teaching, learning, educational outcomes, leadership and back office functions.

They say: “It would also enable us to retain our ethos, culture and vision, preventing these being imposed upon us and allowing us to control the future of our schools.

“It is important to state that each school would retain its individuality, culture and ethos. All schools would benefit from shared resources, school improvement strategies, procurement, experience and talent.”

The consultation will run until Monday, June 12. A final decision will be taken by the governors of both schools.
