New leader for Reading Conservatives

A WOMAN from Caversham has become leader of the Conservative Party in Reading.

Councillor Jeanette Skeats was elected unopposed at the branch’s annual meeting. She takes over from Councillor Tim Harris. Her deputy will be Councillor Richard Willis, who was also elected unopposed.

Cllr Skeats, who was first elected in Thames ward in 1996, said: “I did not seek this position but was touched by the number of colleagues who asked me to stand. The people of Reading can have confidence that the Conservatives are here to stand up for their interests.”
