THOUSANDS of additional homes could be earmarked for towns and villages in South Oxfordshire.
The district council says it needs to review its development plans beyond 2027 — the date by which it has committed to 11,500 new homes being built.
Now it is to create a new local plan to cover the period to 2031 that will seek to identify the best places for the extra housing.
The move follows the publication of the Strategic Market Housing Assessment for Oxfordshire, which does not set housing targets but assesses future need.
The report suggests that between 93,560 and 106,560 additional homes are needed across the county between 2011 and 2031 and that between 725 and 825 a year should be built in South Oxfordshire.
