THE Conservative Party has returned a £28,000 donation believed to be linked to an exiled Russian banker who lives near Henley.
A company called Henley Concierge made the payment following the party’s fund-raising summer ball last year.
At the time its directors included Mario Hinterdorfer, personal assistant to Andrei Borodin, who lives at Park Place in Remenham.
The Electoral Commission has ruled the company was not a “permissible donor” as it was not satisfied that it was trading in the UK.
The Conservatives say they did not break any laws in accepting the donation but reviewed it after the company did not file any accounts.
