ORATORY School fifth formers, Archie Watson and Nathan McGarvey won the Nationals Schools’ U16s Championship title last weekend at Radley College. This was the first ever national doubles championship title win in the school’s history.
The tournament featured the best U16 pairs from across Canford School, Radley College, Wellington College and the Oratory.
Watson and McGarvey performed strongly throughout the competition winning the final 6-2 against Radley College.
The National School Championships were held over three locations, The Queen’s Club London, Radley College and The Oratory School.
Success came for The Oratory at all three locations with Oratory sixth formers, Joseph Bradley and Ethan Milton runners-up in the U18 event at The Queen’s Club and Wilf Quinn, Billy Butler and Tom Cole all semi-finalists in their respective age groups.
Claire Fahey, head of Oratory racquets and the reigning women’s world champion, said: “Congratulation to Archie, Nathan, Joseph and Ethan. It has been fantastic to see the sport of Real Tennis grow at The Oratory over the last few years.
“To see our students performing so well at a national level is very encouraging for racket sports at the school.”
