Roarty gives £700 to boat trust for trips

HENLEY Rotary Club has given a cheque for £700 to the Rivertime Boat Trust, which provides boat trips for disabled and disadvantaged children and adults.

John Grout, a member and former president of the club, presented a cheque on Tuesday to Johnny Hobbs, managing director of Hobbs of Henley, who is a trustee of the charity.

The money will cover the cost of three boat trips.

Mr Hobbs said: “It’s fantastic to get the support of Rotary. As a charity, we are looking to get all trips supported and paid for so that we can do as many as possible, especially for those who can’t afford the charter fee.

“Last year we were looking at a record number of trips but we had to cancel some in October due to the river conditions.

“The charity is in a strong place but relies on dontations and grants and partner organisations.”
