HENLEY Rowing Club’s junior boys triumphed at last weekend’s Walton and Weybridge Regatta.
In the morning Maxim Lutsento and Oscar Newson raced in the J15 double sculls event. They won their heats against Walton Rowing Club and St George’s School to meet a crew from Weybridge Rowing Club in the final where they raced well to win convincingly by four lengths.
Diego Petrosillo competed in the boys’ J14 single sculls event. In the heat he beat a sculler from St George’s School to reach the final against a sculler from Guildford. In the final he won his event with an easily verdict.
In the afternoon the J15 quad of Diego Petrosillo, Oscar Newson, Finn Whitman, Charlie Green and cox Rares Visinoin won their heat to reach the final against a strong crew from Walbrook where Henley led off the start but were unable to maintain this lead, losing by one and three-quarters of a length.
The Henley J14 boys crews were shuffled up and ultimately both lost out to the eventual winners in their semi-finals.
The quad of Rocco Balducci, Ollie Rowley, James Weeks and Flynn Burrow lost by a length while the double of Franco Bigmore-Wallace and Miley Vann by a mere three feet.
