HENLEY Colts ran out winners last Sunday in a game of two halves at Newbury.
Henley made a fast start, Harry Beesley with a cross-field kick which saw Elliot Deacon win the ball and take play to the Newbury line where he found a hole round the fringes of the ruck for captain Jack Bradbury to dive over.
Soon afterwards it was Beesley who spotted a gap and took off to sprint in from 60m out. Newbury recovered from the fast start from Henley to gain their own bit of possession and territory to score.
Henley were soon back in the swing, with good handling from their backs that saw winger Teddy Sherwood sprint in. Henley were applying good air pressure to the Newbury line-out and stole one in the 22m which resulted in Beau Tredwell scoring.
Theo got the last score of the half after Beesley and Bradbury combined as Henley led 31-7.
The second half saw Newbury take the game to Henley and never allowed them to settle for the first 20 minutes of the half and scored two tries.
Henley got a foothold in the half as some good phases allowed Marlowe Rundle to fend and sprint his way to the try line. There was time for one more try from Newbury to wrap up the scoring.
