HENLEY Colts maintained their winning start to the season as they defeated local rivals Chinnor B.
Henley were buoyed by having several returning players, including Juan Molina and Lucas Coleman both making their first appearances this season.
Henley started strongly, the backs looked sharp, moving the ball wide for Will Kemble to make yards down the wing. The ball was recycled and swung to the other side which saw Jake Geggus dive over to open the scoring. Chinnor had a strong pack and were able to get forward, despite the best efforts of the Henley pack. They got their reward from a driving maul to make the score 5-5.
Henley were starting to get success by moving the ball, as Molina was able to tip the ball on to Adam Bennett and Noah Mercer rushing on. Toby Robertson and Harry Waldrom both worked hard hitting rucks and were everywhere. The next score came when Geggus chipped the ball through and sprinted through to touch down and make it 10-5 at half-time.
Henley started the second half strongly, Harry Beesley pulling the strings at fly-half and linking up well with Coleman to give the outside backs the space to run.
It was line-out drive that saw the next score, Molina finding
Waldrom and then peeling off and showing his strength to dot
down. There were big defensive efforts following, with Elliot Deacon and Jack Bradbury making some key tackles.
The final score of the game came when the ball came out to Huw Marung who showed good footwork to dance around the defender to take play into the 22m area, before the ball was recycled and moved to Jacob Troskie who powered over to make the final score 22-5.
