Jones claims first win but side return draw

DANNY Dockree and Jon Abbott scored two each and Mark Jones added his first win of the season as Sonning Common and Peppard C held Sonning Sports A to a 5-5 draw in Division 1.

Sonning Common and Peppard B also drew 5-5 with its D team. Brian Meheux and Malcolm Gregory starred for the D team with doubles while for the B team Tom Astle managed a maximum. Nigel Maltby teamed up with Simon Berry to win the crucial doubles set for the D team.

In Division 3, another hard fought match saw the E team draw 5-5 with Tilehurst Methodists A, Anthony Reeve winning twice and both Jim Warren and Jeremy Willis picking up singles. Warren and Willis won a tense doubles set 11-9, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6 and 12-10.

The F team continued their promotion push in Division 4. Mike Casserley and Gerry Bacon secured maximums as they beat Sonning Sports C 9-1, while the G team lost 6-4 at Our Lady of Peace E, John Evans, Simon Blake and Derek Wavell all contributing wins.
