Casserley’s treble helps side hit top spot

THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side dropped two points in the battle for the Reading and District Table Tennis League Division 1 title last week despite winning 8-2 against Tilehurst Royal British Legion A.

Gary Morgan and Ed Lush hit maximums but Jason Roberts lost out to Keith Winter and the Tilehurst team also won the doubles set. The C team gave their hopes of avoiding the drop a significant boost after beating their B team club mates 8-2, Danny Dockree and Jon Abbott both starring.

Simon Berry managed a fine 11-3, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10 win against Julian Telford as the D team lost 9-1 at third placed Kingfisher B. In Division 3, the E team lost out 6-4 to Our Lady of Peace B, Jeremy Willis winning twice.

The F team went top of Division 4 after Mike Casserley and Graeme Streets’ trebles helped their side defeat Kingfisher L
8-2.

In the same division the G team managed a 5-5 draw at Our Lady of Peace F, Derek Wavell and David Riddle both winning twice.
